There could be swelling or stiffness in the joint and possible discolouration, with the area feeling hot to the touch. The symptoms can be more subtle, like the sensation of abnormal pressure, clicking or the feeling of instability in the ankle joint. Excessive pronation or supination of the foot at the ankle is an abnormality that can cause pain in the foot, ankle, knee, hip or even lower back.
